My Beautiful Visit to Northern California

I grew up in Sacramento, California and really enjoyed living there. I have since moved quite a bit and am currently living in Austin, Texas. My only complaint so far about Austin... the humid heat! I felt like I couldn't get away from it this year - even in November! So I decided to hop on a plane and spent some much needed time with my mom for the holidays.

In this blog post, I will be sharing pictures from the trip as well as my itinerary! If you have any questions, feel free to DM me on Instagram @kimberlycobb. Enjoy reading!

WHAT WE DID

First stop after landing in the Sacramento Airport: Jamba Juice!! I always feel so gross after traveling and a smoothie always makes me feel refreshed :) Here is picture of me and my beautiful momma!

Because my mom is battling cancer, we spent most of our time lounging around, reading, and sharing stories with each other. She sold her home last year and has been RV-ing up and down the west coast with her husband, so I ended up staying with her in the RV for the duration of my time. It was so cool because we were able to stay right on the river!

The next day, we took a short drive up to Apple Hill! For those of you who don't know what Apple Hill is, I highly recommend visiting during the fall if you're in the area. Apple Hill is basically a series of apple orchards, wineries, and other various stops where you can pick apples, buy yummy treats, shop from local craft vendors, buy fresh produce, + more! There's entertainment for the entire family and it's just so wholesome. My mom and I got caramel apples and fresh fudge... drooling just thinking about it!

After chowing down on sweets, we took a nice walk through the orchards! How pretty is this?! All the leaves were golden.. it was like a dream!

As I mentioned earlier, we kept it pretty low key because of my mom's health. The only other activity we did was explore "downtown" Placerville which was really cute. There are a bunch of cute local shops + restaurants to check out. We bought some souvenirs, grabbed a quick drink at a coffeeshop, + ate lunch at a yummy sandwich shop! Everyone was very friendly + there were a lot of dogs too!

WHAT I WORE

Everyone dresses pretty casually in California so that's exactly how I dressed! Comfort is key too, especially when you're doing so much walking. Here are some of the must-have items I packed:

TIPS

  • Make sure to download your Spotify playlists before traveling

  • Pack clothing items for layering! It's nice + warm during the day but chilly at night

  • Wear comfy shoes since you'll be doing a lot of walking

  • Bring bear mace if you'll be doing any hiking while in Northern California

Thank you so much for reading this blog post- I hope you found it helpful! I had such an amazing time in Northern California and already want to come back! As always, send me a DM on Instagram here if you have any questions or want to be friends!
